Who Told You You’re Too Much?

girl with hands above face, girl in nature, 'too much,' being 'too much,' feeling too much, big heart

Who quieted your thunder? Stomped out your joy? Told you that the way you laughed, and lived, and loved were too much?

Who told you that there is such a thing as ‘too much’ in the first place?

Who looked at you, and instead of seeing your overabundant brilliance, said that you should be less, do less, feel less? Who thought the world would benefit from the silence of your lips, the biting of your tongue instead of the wonderment you so easily spread?

Who has you convinced that you are somehow unworthy, instead of the bold, beautiful blessing you are?

Who told you that the world needs less? Less talking. Less believing. Less singing. Less dancing in circles with your loved one in tow. Less celebrating the little things. Less kissing. Less expressing exactly what you feel when you feel it. Less public displays of affection. Less letting life happen, letting love happen, and getting all wrapped up in it. Less of you.

Who told you this? Because they’re wrong.

What the world needs is not people who are too scared to feel, too afraid to move, too afraid to share their hearts with one another. What the world needs is not another timid soul, too afraid to connect, to believe, to fall.

What the world needs is not another person who tries to be less, who tries to not take up too much space.

What the world needs is someone who feels, lives, loves passionately. A person whose unapologetically, perfectly too much.

So be—
all that you are, the mess, the chaos, the feelings overflowing.

Fall into people. Tell them what you think. Tell them that you love them, damn it, don’t be afraid. Kiss them until their fear melts away. Hug until your heart no longer hurts. Explore things and share dreams and never apologize for the pounding in your chest. You are not too much. You are just enough. Just perfectly enough as you are. TC mark
